Moses

The Desolating Anointed Prince / Ruler of Daniel 9:25-27

End, a Great City

[ Note: Not referring to the Anointed / Messiah
sited at the start of Daniel 9:26. ]

The future anointed desolator is 'typed' by King Saul.

Saul was anointed with literal olive oil but we can expect the future
anointed ruler will be anointed with symbolic olive oil. This means
the future king will have knowledge of the word of God.

Saul was initially considered to be amongst the prophets.

1 Sam 10:10 When they came there to the hill, there was
a group of prophets to meet him; then the Spirit
of God came upon him, and he prophesied among
                    them.
:11 And it happened, when all who knew him formerly
saw that he indeed prophesied among the prophets,
that the people said to one another, "What is this
that has come upon the son of Kish? Is Saul also
                    among the prophets?"
:12 Then a man from there answered and said, "But who
is their father?" Therefore it became a proverb:
"Is Saul also among the prophets?"

Likewise it can be expected that the future desolator will be gifted
with prophetic understanding.

That the arriving king will have understanding of previously hidden
wisdom is also confirmed by the following verse.

Dan 8:23 And in the latter time of their kingdom, when the
transgressors have reached their fullness, a king
shall arise, having fierce features, who understands
                  sinister schemes.

[ The phrase 'sinister schemes' is better translated
'riddles'. (The Hebrew word is encountered several
times in Judg 14:12-19, where it is commonly
rendered 'riddle'.) In this verse it is a reference
to the riddles of Scripture. ]

It is important to realise that this Anointed Desolator has an important
role to play in end-time events.

He represents an entity whose role it is to devastate what is being
symbolically represented as Jerusalem. In other words to carry out
God's judgement.

His reign is destined to continue, until the time of his judgment is
reached.

Dan 7:25 ... For a time and times and half a time.

Those attempting to understand prophecy should be careful to not
confuse biblical references to this entity and the end-time entity
identified as the False Prophet!

[ NB: The False Prophet provides a false witness to symbolic
Jerusalem, which causes a failure to heed the witnesses
of God. Thereby preventing repentance. The message of
the False Prophet hardens hearts and puffs up the people
of the symbolic city with arrogance and pride. ]

Different biblical prophecies refer to the Desolator by various titles.

However, the Desolator is the entity which initiates the time of Jacob's
Trouble (also known as the Great Tribulation).

While resistance to the False Prophet is appropriate, 'out right'
resistance to the Anointed Desolator may be unwise. Better to keep
in mind that God has raised up and established this entity for a
reason. That its fall will not occur until the appointed time.
